Attended my first organ concert at the Dallas Symphony Hall played by Cameron Carpenter. For years I have looked at the amazing organ as a backdrop for the symphony and never heard it played. The repertoire was J.S. Bach as well as Carpenter's own compositions and improvisations. There are 4,535 pipes in the organ dispersed over 6 divisions! The origin's of organs go back to the third century BC and used water pressure to regulate the flow of air through the pipes. By the 17th century and with the compositions of J.S. Bach the organ had reached new technical achievements. The sounds and power of the music were amazing to experience.
