Started the New Year with a quiet fireside dinner with my dear friend Margaret who is 102 years old. The evening was filled with wonderful conversations about our families, our love of art and the times we have shared over the past 14 years.
During our time together I was able to tell her how important she has been to me as a source of inspiration and as a friend. Margaret's gentle smile and thoughtful acknowledgement of my comments made me realize how very important it is to intentionally acknowledge the support and impact people have on our lives and how meaningful it is to them. We share a love of sweets and delighted in chocolate ice cream topped with fresh whipped cream and Dr. Sue's dark chocolate bark as the fire burned its last log. Learning from old friends in new ways and cherishing friendships is an important part of the Something New Practice and a great way to begin 2015.
